When language is stripped from communication, what is left, what can still be perceived?

Cybersemic is a study of language that explores the world of digital communication through the creative dissection of various elements of human interaction. The layer of distance created by the barrier of the screen in the digital space alters how we understand people and communicate effectively with them. Facial expressions, body language, volume, and the physical interactions between people are essential elements for understanding each other. These elements and our relationship to them change in the digital space, with some elements becoming absent altogether,  depending on our channel of communication. Cybersemic breaks down digital communication and seeks to examine the types of interactions offered from different forms of digital communication. Through abstracting the different ways we communicate digitally, the viewer is left to ponder the additional context these forms of communication offer or lack.

What universals exist within the texting space that can be perceived even through abstraction? What are your assumptions about short texts versus long texts? How do you interpret periods of silence? What are the eyes saying? the body language? Allow yourself to evaluate these communication elements and consider the aspects of digital communication that can give insight into our relationships.
